Question: Identifying the key personal attribute of effective project managers within manufacturing industry in Cambodia. Answer: Introduction: An effective project management is mainly about reaching an organisational goal with success by proper planning and efficiently using organisational resources. According to House et al. (2013), effective project management helps an organization in achieving specific goals like introduction of a new product in the market, changing the place of operation, creating a new marketing campaign for the company, and others. According to Cullen and Parboteeah (2013), developing a new idea for innovative purposes or reinventing an idea for the betterment of an organization is the main purpose of an effective project management. In an economy like Cambodias, a project needs to be broken down to smaller steps. The job of a project manager here is to identify those steps and communicate the goal with those who are involved in the production process. This is done by prioritizing the important tasks according to the business plans. According to Dy (2013), an effective project manager maximizes effic iency in his project by efficient allocation of the scarce resources that has been provided to the manager. There are various ways of managing a project effectively in any industry. These can be categorized under leadership style. The leadership style of a project manager is the most important determinant of the success of a project. According to Williams (2015), there are six types of leadership: transformational, transactional, democratic, charismatic, laissez-faire, and authoritarian leadership. An appropriate choice of leadership style will only earn the organization their success. The Cambodian economy follows an open market system. The economy has achieved a high growth rate in the last decade. According to Keane and Basnett (2016), the manufacturing sector of the country played a strong role in this growth. The garment industry played the most crucial role in this achievement. The success of the garment industry is followed by a shift to more sophisticated light manufacturing sector. Electronic goods and auto-parts are the infant leading sectors in the manufacturing industry of Cambodia. As the country is looking for an economic boom, the manufacturing industry has a huge role in this. Thus, a planned and organised path is needed for the success of the production systems in manufacturing industry of Cambodia. The manufacturing sector can be better off at this stage of development. According to Chui, Newlands and Plessis (2015), the upgraded local skills will also help the manufacturers achieve the goals. Here, the leadership styles will determine the way the manufacturing industry will flourish in the future. Cambodia has shown huge improvement in the economy based on the industrial sector. Here the major donators are the agricultural sector and the manufacturing sector. The agricultural sector of Cambodia has low scope for effective project management. For this reason, the manufacturing industry will get all the attention from effective project management. This will incorporate planning, tracking, and communication. According to Thet and Penh (2013), planning includes building schedules, assigning resources, and budget creation. The communication involves communicating the tasks of the production in the manufacturing sector. Publishing key milestones will help the process. The tracking will help the organizations operating in the manufacturing industry in Cambodia. Definitions: Project Manager: The project managers make and develop project goals which are chased by the team members in order to achieve the organizational goals. The project managers also create strategies which are there to help the team members in doing so. Personal Attribute: Personal attributes of a project manager are the traits of the person which make the manager a sustaining one. The best attributes a project manager holds are, having a foresight, organized, leading traits, good in communication, pragmatic, and empathetic. Manufacturing Industry: The manufacturing industry of an economy incorporates those entities which are responsible for creating a brand new product using physical, chemical, mechanical transformative materials as resources. Project Success: In project success, one measures a project with respect to some parameters like budget, scope, quality, time limit, and others.
